I like to do yoga, or at least I think I do. I’ve been doing yoga using an Intro to Yoga DVD (and before that a VHS tape) for about 15 years so I have no idea whether I’m ‘doing it right.’ Plus, I’d estimate I only practice yoga an average of four times per year.
The only class I’d ever attended was a Yoga for Stress Relief workshop that wasn’t quite the same. Taking a regular yoga class was a natural fit for the 40 list.
I can’t say I was thrilled to leave the house tonight and drive the more than 30 minutes to the yoga studio, but my list and my blog made me do it! I’m finding one of the best things about the 40 list is that it has a time limit and a schedule, and I’m accountable to my friends and family who think that what I’m doing is kinda neat.
I chose a 75 minute Gentle Yoga class because it’s beginner level and it fit my schedule. There were only four students and I was happy to be one of two newbies. I was able to follow along fairly successfully due to my many ‘years’ of DVD practice. Overall it was a relaxing hour, I stretched out some tight muscles and remembered how to breathe deeply.
I likely would have found it even more relaxing if I hadn’t been writing blog sentences in my head the whole time.
Namaste.
